PVR TEX TOOL compression is not proper when comparing with Mali tex compression

my GPU is IMG BXS-4-64 MC1 and SOC is TI sitara AMP62.
i am checking the png images which are higher in size and trying to compress the .png as ETC2 and save as .ktx formats.

use case 1:
i used PVR tex tool to convert the original png to ETC2 RGBA sRGB & even tried ETC2 RGBA Linear and checked the image in the PVRTextool and in my simualtion none of the compressed image matches with the original image. there are lot of color differences.

use case 2:
but whne i tried via mali texture compression and used the RGBA8_ETC2_EAC format to compress the ETC2 and saved as .ktx.
here there is no difference between the original and compressed ktx image.

why i am seeing major difference in my PVR tex rool. or what is the Equivalent compression format in PVR Tex tool for “RGBA8_ETC2_EAC”. how to proceed further.?

Original.png

MALI converted KTX image (RGBA8_ETC2_EAC) which is rendered in my simulation and taken the screenshot in png to show here

PVR tex converted KTX image (ETC2 RGBA) which is rendered in my simulation and taken the screenshot in png to show here

Kindly help me to understand why the differene in PVR tex tool alone.

Hi brajan1,

Thanks for reporting this.

Have you tried using the different quality levels of the compressor in PVRTexTool?

Otherwise, this could be a possible issue in PVRTexTool. Would it be possible to provide a .png image (or an URL with a .png image) reproducing the issue?

Best regards,
Alejandro

yes i tried with different levels of compression Also. in earlier question itself i have attached the original.png. here i am attaching again.

hi @AlejandroC please check and feedback

Hi brajan1,

Thanks a lot for providing an example image.

I will try to reproduce the issue and report it to the Tools Team.

Best regards,
Alejandro

Hi brajan1,

I did several tests and was able to verify the issue you reported. I have reported this issue internally to the Tools Team.

Best regards,
Alejandro

ok @AlejandroC when we expect the issue fixed latet PVR tex tool. Any estimated time line.
