Issue With Skinning Using Maya

Hey, I’m using the default skinning tutorial found on the training course however i’m having an issue with a complex skeleton





The mesh renders fine in maya, and also in pvrshamen








however when viewed on the device, this happens








I know the meshes are split when the bone threshold is above a certain value but i’m unsure why this happens?
