MBX VS SGX

Hi

I am new to OPenGL ES. I want to know the difference between MBX and SGX. Are they the same thing and MBX was used in old devices and SGX is for new one. Please kindly elaborate.

Any help is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Shaista

PowerVR MBX is a fixed function graphics core for OpenGL ES 1.x acceleration. PowerVR SGX is a new family of graphics cores with a flexible shader architecture. Members of this family support OpenGL ES 1.x (with a number of additional extensions) and OpenGL ES 2.0, and also have several efficiency improvements over MBX.

Both can also support OpenVG.

Thanks

Very useful info for newbies, Thanks.
