PowerVR GE8320 GPU Graphics Bug on YouTube Shorts

I would like to express my concern to the developers of the GPU. Whenever I watch YouTube shorts, I always encountered this weird green glitches on the screen affecting the visibility of the playback. I have reported this issue to YouTube’s own feedback channel but I don’t receive any news regarding that matter. I keep my apps up-to-date but the issue hasn’t been resolved.

Interesting enough, this isn’t only in my case, but I noticed that this happens to GPUs with PowerVR GE8320 or similar.

Here is the version of the GPU: OpenGL ES 3.2 build 1.11@5425693

One more small request. Please fully support PowerVR 8 Series on the ongoing open-source Vulkan driver on Mesa. This line of GPUs are everywhere but the problem is the implementation. Especially with this notorious GPU: PowerVR GE8320, a lot of people state that it has a broken and incomplete Vulkan drivers despite the GPU itself supporting it, I think it is Vulkan 1.1. But it is still not enough, and the GPU is unreliable at times. I can’t believe that they are allowing GPUs to be sold in the market while being partially complete. It has tons of missing features and drivers that it can’t properly utilized the GPU.

Hi OrangeandLemons,

Thanks for your message and welcome to the PowerVR Developer Forum.

Regarding possible GPU driver issues, IMG does not provide drivers directly to the final retail device, but to the manufacturer, which decides when to update them.

Regarding the Mesa support, the current focus is on Volcanic architecture (Series A and B). Series 8 is not part of the current scope, but it does not mean it could not be added in the future.

Best regards,
Alejandro
