How do I correct file associations on Windows?

For some reason, the file associations on Windows are broken for the PowerVR SDK Utilities. How can I fix this?

Here’s an example of how to cleanup the registry for PVRTraceGUI.exe



  1. Delete the PVRTraceGUI.exe directory in HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesApplications

  2. Delete all occurrences of .pvrt

  3. Delete all occurrences of pvrt_auto_file



Once these steps are complete, you can recreate the file association by right-clicking a .pvrt file, launching Properties & navigating to the PVRTraceGUI.exe binary using the "Opens With: Change" dialog box
